Correcting a DS-160 after booking is common: a misspelt name, a wrong passport number, a travel date that moved. What trips people up is the paperwork rule that follows. US visa centres in India want both confirmation pages, the one your appointment was booked with and the corrected one.

The rule, in the Mission's words#
"If your appointment was booked prior to November 15, 2023, you may proceed with your appointment to the VAC or document drop-off location with your corrected DS-160 confirmation page. If your appointment was booked on or after November 15, 2023, you must bring the original DS-160 confirmation page you have used to schedule your appointment AND the corrected DS-160 confirmation page."
And the consequence: "If you are unable to bring your original DS-160 confirmation page and your corrected DS-160 confirmation page, you must cancel and reschedule your appointment by entering your corrected DS-160 application number."
Why this catches people out#
Because the natural instinct after correcting a form is to discard the wrong version. The scheduling system, though, is keyed to the application number the appointment was created with. The old page proves the booking is yours; the new page is what the officer works from. Print both, and keep the confirmation numbers written down separately.
The second trap is timing. A cancel-and-rebook does not merely cost you the printing: in the Indian queue it can cost months, because the slot returns to the pool and the next available date is wherever the calendar currently opens. Current waits by city are in US visa wait time India.
