# Greece Schengen Visa Processing Time from India: The Courier Days the 15-Day Rule Skips

> Greece adds 5-8 India-specific courier days before its 15-day clock even starts, and its Indian visa centres run through GVCW, not VFS. What that changes.

Greece publishes a detail most Schengen missions leave out entirely: how many days your application spends in transit before its 15-day decision clock even starts, and it runs that transit through a different operator than every other country on this list.

## GVCW, not VFS

If a site tells you to check VFS Global's appointment portal for a Greek visa in India, it is out of date. Greece moved its Indian visa-centre operations away from VFS on 25 January 2018; the exclusive provider since then is **Global Visa Center World (GVCW)**, which states plainly on its own site: "GVCW is the exclusive External Service Provider of the Greek Consular Authorities in India." GVCW runs a wider network than most Schengen missions in India — 15 visa application centres, including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Goa, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Puducherry and Pune.

## The courier days the generic rule doesn't count

The Embassy of Greece in New Delhi restates the standard EU baseline — "the stipulated processing time of an application is up to 15 working days," extendable to "a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases" — then adds a delivery-time table most applicants never see because it sits on a different page than the headline rule:

The Embassy is explicit that it "shall not be held responsible" for a late visa if the application was submitted with less than 15 days plus this delivery window before travel. In practice, an applicant filing from outside Delhi should treat the real minimum as closer to three weeks than two.

## When demand actually peaks

The Embassy names its own busy season directly: "As applications peak during the months of April through July, it is advisable to apply well in advance." That window lines up with when most Indian travellers are booking Greek island trips in the first place, which makes early filing (the Embassy allows applications up to 6 months ahead, or 9 months for seafarers) the one lever an applicant fully controls.

## What it costs, and how you pay it

GVCW charges the standard €90 Type C visa fee plus a separate €30 GVCW service fee. Payment is cash or UPI at most centres — except New Delhi, where GVCW's own notice states a technical issue currently limits it to **cash only**. Centres also close for local and Greek holidays on short notice; GVCW's own site listed a Cochin closure for the Thiruvonam festival in late August 2026 as a live example of how easily a booked slot can be disrupted by a city-specific closure. GVCW's fraud notice is worth repeating directly: it warns applicants to "avoid any unauthorized, fake entities which claim to facilitate the visa process at the Embassy of Greece in New Delhi... for hefty fees."

## Planning against the real number

Add the Embassy's delivery-day table to the standard 15-45 day window, file before the April-July peak if you can, and treat any quoted "Greece visa in X days" figure that doesn't account for the courier leg as incomplete.
