# Malaysia Visa Fees for Indians: Nothing to Pay Until 31 December 2026

> Indians enter Malaysia visa-free until 31 December 2026, so the visa fee is zero. The MDAC is free too. What actually costs money at the border.

The cheapest possible answer to "how much is a Malaysia visa for Indians" is: nothing, and that stays true until the last day of this year.

## Why the fee is zero

Malaysia's Immigration Department lists India among the countries that require a visa, then carves out an exception in a footnote: **"India citizen: visa exempts until 31st December 2026."** Up to 30 days, for social or tourism visits.

Read the structure, because it matters for planning. This is a temporary exemption sitting on top of a visa requirement — not a permanent visa-free relationship. It was introduced as part of Malaysia's visa liberalisation drive and extended once, to cover Visit Malaysia Year 2026. What happens on 1 January 2027 has not been announced, which is the subject of [Malaysia's visa-free entry running out](/malaysia-visa-free-indians-ends-31-december-2026).

## The other free thing people pay for

The **Malaysia Digital Arrival Card**. It is mandatory, it is submitted online before you fly, and it costs nothing on the Immigration Department's portal. Commercial sites charge to fill it in — the same pattern as Sri Lanka's free ETA. How it works and when to file it is in [the MDAC for Indian travellers](/malaysia-digital-arrival-card-mdac-for-indians).

## What actually costs money

Not the paperwork — the proof. Malaysian immigration profiles arrivals at the counter, and Indian travellers are turned back for the ordinary things: no MDAC, no confirmed onward or return ticket, no accommodation booking, and not enough funds for the stay. A refused entry costs the flight, the hotel and the return leg, which is a far larger number than any visa fee.

Passport validity of at least six months is checked by the airline before immigration ever sees you.
